Micromania’s midnight event
Micromania called off the midnight opening. Numerama’s reason is a robbery at a store. That sentence is not Nintendo’s restock apology, and it is not automatically the end of the sleeve gift.
Two facts that keep getting glued together
The midnight-opening cancellation and Nintendo’s demand statement concern separate events. Numerama’s piece is about the party. The chain stopped the late-night launch event because a shop had been hit. The article, as summarized in our research pass, still talks about winners being notified and collecting on the day the game unlocks. I am not standing in a French queue. I am separating the headline “cancelled” from the noun it actually modifies: the event.
JPGames describes the gift itself: a sleeve that echoes the European Nintendo 64 box, a wallet, and the three spiritual stones, with a cap of 5,000. Amazon and other German shops are a different row on the bonus page. The linked reports do not establish an equivalent Leclerc gift offer.
If you pre-ordered at Micromania, the practical question is whether your sleeve is still attached to your receipt. I cannot see that receipt. Use the retailer’s message. Use this page only to stop treating a robbery report as a worldwide stock confession.
Questions
Was the sleeve cancelled?
Numerama cancelled the midnight event. The sleeve is still described as a limited gift of 5,000.
Is this why Nintendo apologized?
No. Nintendo’s demand statement is a different story on the restock page.
