Hyrule map

This is not an open-world game. Developers said they kept the old region layout so players would not mistake it for one. The picture below is a static reference, not a tracker.

How the world is shaped

You move between Kokiri Forest, Hyrule Field, Castle Town, Kakariko, Death Mountain, Zora’s Domain, Lake Hylia, and the desert. Songs and items open the gates. Time passes, including indoors in this version, but the map does not become a single field you can climb in any direction.

Nintendo’s developer interview explains the retained regional structure. The table below helps you identify the major areas and their associated people or dungeons. Follow the Kokiri Forest link for the opening area and the walkthrough for the main story route.

Region notes come from the location records. Empty cells stay empty.
