Princess Zelda

Garden, then the long disguise

The first meeting is still a hedge maze at Hyrule Castle. She has seen a dream about a Gerudo king and a boy from the forest. That scene hands you the quest and, through Impa, Zelda’s Lullaby. I am describing the job she does in the story, not quoting a script line I do not have.

After the seven-year gap she spends most of the adult route behind Sheik’s mask and the Sheikah outfit. The reveal is a late-story turn. If you have never finished the 1998 game, stop at the Sheik page’s warning before you read a guide that names her. On this page the disguise is stated up front because the voice credit lists both roles together. Erica Mendez is the English actor for Zelda and for Sheik. That double credit is from the cast lists, not from a guess.

Why her face is the search

“Zelda face” is a real query, bigger than most character names this month. TechRadar says players singled out her model, along with Link and Ruto, as doll-like. Polygon says the forests look astonishing and that the argument is taste. The official interviews talk about puppetry and practical-effects thinking, a wish to feel like the strange 1998 dream rather than a painterly open field.

Young Zelda and the adult princess share the new sculpt. I do not have a frame-by-frame comparison that says the child face moved more than the adult face. People are searching the young version too. I am keeping them on one page so the face argument is not split into two thin posts.

She is not a fighter you level. She points the quest, she is the Light’s ally in the sage story, and she is the person whose lullaby opens royal seals. The ocarina itself is a different object page. Her portrait on the store site is the picture above.

Who voices Princess Zelda?

Erica Mendez, who also voices Sheik, according to the English cast lists.

Where do you meet her?

In the Hyrule Castle garden as a child, and at the Temple of Time as an adult.

Did her redesign change the plot?

No plot change is documented. The disagreement is about the sculpt.
