Remake or remaster?
It is a remake. Nintendo rebuilt the game. A remaster would be the 1998 program with a cleaner picture. This is not that.
Why the word keeps slipping
The store title is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It does not say remake or remaster. Players added “remake” because the work is new, and search pages also show “remaster” because that is the usual word for an HD coat of paint. Both labels are folk names. The production facts pick one of them.
Wikipedia and the Nintendo store describe a ground-up rebuild: new models, voiced cutscenes, a free camera, a manual jump, and a Castle Town you can walk through. Those are remake-scale changes. The 2011 3DS game was already a separate remake. The 2026 game is another one, on newer hardware.
Calling it an HD remaster would hide the new systems. I keep “remake” in the headline because that is the search, and I keep Nintendo’s own title in the first sentence because that is the product name.
Questions
Is Ocarina of Time a remaster?
The 2026 Switch 2 version is a rebuild, so remake is the accurate word. The box does not use either word.
Was the 3DS version a remaster?
It was its own 2011 remake. It is not this Switch 2 game.
What should I search?
Both “ocarina of time remake” and “ocarina of time remaster” point at this 2026 release in current results.
